The school services the entire Jefferson County District and consists of two areas, middle and high. Students are placed at Minor Daniels Academy after it is found that they are in need of assistance beyond what their comprehensive school can provide. The determination to attend MDA is made by a team of professionals that examine a student's personal and scholastic history to make this determination. While the goal is for students to be able to transition back to a comprehensive setting, some will elect to remain at Minor Daniels Academy to take advantage of the additional supports for extended periods of time that could include graduation.
