The Dance program at Western Middle approaches teaching dancers as whole artists. In addition to learning to perform various dance techniques, with a clear emphasis on Ballet, Modern and Jazz techniques as means of training, dancers are also trained to explore their own artistic voice through improvisation and choreography. Dance Majors at Western Middle School for the Arts also learn to work collaboratively through performance and the creative process, and each student also develops his or her own analytical voice through critique of choreographic works.
