In 1990, the state legislature determined that students and families needed extra educational support. It was determined that Family Resource Centers (FRCs) should be established in elementary schools.

Mission

The Family Resource and Youth Services Center (FRYSC) Program mission is to enhance students' abilities to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:

  • Early learning and successful transition into school.

  • Academic achievement and well-being.

  • Graduation and transition into adult life.

What are we?

FRCs are designed to help remove barriers to student learning. Each center assists students and families through programs and referrals to outside agencies and by partnering with groups in and outside of the school. Programs and services are determined by the needs of the population served, available resources, location, and other local characteristics. The centers work with families to improve students' attendance, decrease problems with behavior or suspensions, offer academic support, deal with mental/physical health issues, and offer parent support and assistance. All students and families are served regardless of income.
