Important Summer Notice for Parents:

  • As the school year ends, we know summer can present unique challenges for students and their families. To support their mental well-being, CareSolace has created a Family Survival Kit for Summer, offering comprehensive tips and guidelines for a smooth transition out of school.

  • If you need assistance finding a mental health provider over the summer, visit The Jefferson County Public Schools Care Match site. It is available 24/7/365 to anonymously search and book appointments with mental health providers. Go to: Care Solace

This is the official website for the Farnsley Middle School Counseling Department. The counseling department works with families to provide support and access to resources to help ensure success at the middle school level.  We work as student advocates with individuals, small groups, and large groups of students to provide academic, social, and behavioral support.  We collaborate with teachers, administrators, and clerical staff to help students overcome academic, social, and behavioral obstacles.

Hello, my name is Teri Hans, and I am excited about the start to my 23rd year in education. I have only been at two schools during my career, here and PRP high school. In addition, I am a graduate of a JCPS school (EHS). The first time I visited Farnsley, I thought it was the Disneyland of middle schools. I still believe that to this day. Can't wait to work with 7th graders in progressing towards the next level and supporting their academic, social, emotional, and career goals/needs along the way!  I am married and have two children, Corinne(16) & Ryland(13). Together we enjoy binge watching a series, off road camping, and playing board games.

I am Michele Johnson, I have worked as a school counselor for a total of 12 years. I am originally from St.Louis, Mo, my family and I moved to Louisville 8 years ago. I have two boys Marquis (16) and Malachi (13). Some things that I like to do in my spare time: read, write, sing and enjoy the outdoors. I am currently obtaining my Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development at the University of Louisville.  I believe all students should be provided a safe and comfortable environment that allows them to explore their social/emotional, academic and/or career needs. All students should be encouraged to excel academically and behaviorally based on data driven interventions provided to ensure all students will become successful and productive members of their community.
