Wheeler Elementary School is a great place to learn and grow! We hope you learn more about our school by exploring our website and various social media accounts.

Wheeler provides a rigorous curriculum that is aligned to state and national standards. All students are supported in their learning progression and provided additional time, as needed, to master learning targets. Students demonstrating mastery are provided opportunities to extend and deepen their learning. Ongoing assessments in each content area provide you and your child’s teacher with valuable information regarding individual student abilities and instructional needs. Additionally, all students at Wheeler participate in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), Library/Media, Visual Art, Physical Education, and Music integrated with dance and drama. Student options include Suzuki-method violin, cello, guitar, band and orchestra.

Wheeler's social and emotional programming centers around the work of Steven Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.  Our work as a Leader in Me School supports mission of developing and empowering our students.  As part of our academic and social/emotional programming, students are taught these 7 habits:

  • Be Proactive

  • Begin with the End in Mind

  • Put First Things First

  • Think Win-Win

  • Seek first to Understand, then to be Understood

  • Synergize

  • Sharpen the Saw

We are proud to be a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is a whole-school improvement process based on the idea that everyone can be a leader. This evidence-based approach empowers students with the leadership and life-skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. We focus on developing the whole-child by:

  • teaching LEADERSHIP to every student,

  • creating a CULTURE of student empowerment,

  • and aligning systems to drive results in ACADEMICS.

Our award winning counseling program, Family Resource Center, and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) are here to assist students and families with resources to meet individual needs and to enhance daily lives. We value and welcome parent and community involvement within our classrooms and our school.

With such a well-rounded program, a caring and dedicated staff, it is easy to understand why our school and students are classified as distinguished within our community, district and state.

Our learners today, are leaders tomorrow!
