Our Family Resource Center (FRC) coordinator is Chris Watts.   

FRCs were started in Kentucky schools as a part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) in 1990. The primary goal of these centers is to remove nonacademic barriers to learning as a means to enhance student academic success.

Some of the services/activities/programs offered by Harstern FRC are as follows: 

  • Uniform assistance 

  • School supply assistance 

  • Transition programs 

  • Kindergarten (P1) orientation 

  • New-student orientation 

  • Middle School Transition Night 

  • Basic needs referrals 

  • Emergency assistance referrals 

  • Referrals concerning daycare (to Community Coordinated Child Care [4-C]) 

  • Parent involvement activities (in collaboration with school and Parent Teacher Association [PTA]) 

  • Information for new and expectant parents 

  • Attendance work
