Meet the Counselor—Kim Grider
Mrs. Grider grew up in the South End, not far from Shacklette. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degrees in school counseling at University of Louisville (UofL) and a master’s degree in school guidance counseling at Spalding University.
She has two children, who both graduated from Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). Chelsea graduated in 2007 and Barrett in 2011. She and Mr. Grider were married in 1987.
Mrs. Grider has been in the education field since 1986. She started out teaching prekindergarten at a private school. She worked in private practice counseling while her children were little. In 1997, she worked part-time as a home-school coordinator, which led to a position as Family Resource and Youth Services Center (FRYSC) coordinator at Goldsmith Elementary, Seneca High, and Binet Schools until 2017. Before coming to Shacklette as a school counselor, she worked two and a half years at Coleridge Taylor Montessori Elementary as the counselor.
