Primary Program Through Fifth Grade

At Shacklette Elementary School, our Primary Program is modeled after the critical attributes of the Primary Program developed by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). These attributes include continuous progress, multiage groupings, qualitative reporting, developmentally appropriate practices, authentic assessment, professional teamwork, and parent involvement, which are monitored through continuous professional development, classroom observations, and teacher evaluations.

All students are placed in an instructional environment that allows them to make continuous progress. Students are assessed frequently to determine the mastery of concepts and to ensure that flexible groups are ongoing. Teachers work in collaborative teams to develop lessons and units of study to meet the individual learning styles of all students.
