What is Outside Work Experience?

Outside Work Experience is a paid Work-Based Learning experience occurring outside the school day consisting of on-the-job work experience that is connected to a post-secondary credential and/or Associates Degree. Students who earn 300 cumulative hours of Outside Work Experience are eligible to receive Post-Secondary Readiness.

Outside Work Experience Requirements

To participate in Outside Work Experience, a student shall:

  • Maintain all work records including paystubs and/or work verifications from employers.

  • Complete separate coursework connected to their employment with a focus on career skills.

  • Complete a Career Portfolio while enrolled in Outside Work Experience.
