UPS Programs

What are UPS Programs?

UPS School to Work Programs places senior students as package handlers in the Louisville hub.  Students receive extensive training before they begin work on the package floor. Students work three to four hours per day for highly competitive pay and receive full health, dental and vision benefits after nine months of employment.

Types of UPS Programs

Most JCPS Seniors will be enrolled in one of the following:

  1. UPS School to Work (Career Work Experience- Level IV): Students who are NOT enrolled in a Business pathway.

  2. Business Education Co-op (UPS): Students who are enrolled in a Business pathway ONLY.  *All Co-op experiences should be coded accordingly in Infinite Campus and aligned to the student's TEDS-identified career program area (CTE pathway). 

UPS Programs Requirements

To participate in UPS Programs, a student shall:

  • Be a high school senior.

  • Have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.

  • Have completed the basic career and technical skill prerequisites.

  • Maintain good attendance.

  • Be enrolled in a pathway course within the same academic year or completed pathway by the conclusion of the student's junior year. 

  • Must have an early release time from school.

  • Be able to lift up to 70 pounds.

  • Obtain a recommendation from their high school.
